The works comprised a new tunnel to abstract water from Tarbela Reservoir and a new concrete lined canal to convey water from the tunnel outlet to the existing Upper Swat Canal System together with various appurtenant works and associated conveyance.

The length of Miari Bridge is 92.742 m (3 x 30.91m). 12 nos of post-tensioned I-beams are used for the super structure.
